Overseas trade events (seed and export)
AHDB Potatoes supports GB's seed export industry
AHDB Potatoes presents key seed and export messages to existing and prospective international markets at key overseas trade events.
Our trade stands at key overseas events provide information and advice to industry on the quality and health benefits of seed from Great Britain. The stands maintain and build on the excellent reputation of seed from Great Britain and to provide a live marketing platform from which our industry can network with existing and new contacts worldwide to help increase demand for British seed.
The British potato industry is warmly invited to participate with AHDB Potatoes stands overseas and to use the stand as a base for branding, meetings and networking.
Here are some details about the events we currently participate in:
Held annually in September
This a key – and growing – industry event provides AHDB Potatoes with an opportunity to promote GB seed on the European stage
Potato Europe rotates each year around the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France and is a key industry event for our seed and export sector. We typically present a large stand promoting seed, plant health variety information and related scientific expertise. Our seed and export industry co-exhibit on this stand under their own branding to promote their own varieties at this busy trade event.
Although this is a European event, visitors come from far and wide, from countries such as Syria, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Turkey, Lebanon, and many, many more. It's reputation is growing and it is now seen as a 'must attend' event for the potato sector.
Fruit Logistca, Berlin, Germany
Held annually in February
Over 78,000 trade visitors from 130 countries attended Fruit Logistica 2018.
This exhibition gathers importers and exporters, fruit and vegetable producers, wholesalers and retailers, packaging and handling specialists from all over the world.
A joint team made up of AHDB Horticulture and Potatoes travelled to Berlin in February.
The three-day event is the biggest fresh produce event of its kind.
Overall, the event was a great a success. The excellent atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a lot of networking and business opportunities for levy payers to actively build their businesses, as well as supporting and enhancing the reputation of British produce abroad.
Representatives from horticulture specialists Bedfordshire Growers, AC Goatham and Son, Angus Soft Fruit and Jepco were joined on the AHDB stand by Isle of Ely and James Hutton Ltd who were flying the flag for GB potatoes.
