At a glance

  • Lifting has continued in some regions this week, with supplies heading straight to market wherever possible. There is an increasing offer of lower quality supplies from store, though buyers can be harder to find. Growers are increasingly holding onto best quality supplies until later in the season, tightening availability in some markets.

  • Trade remains mostly stand on from the previous week. Bag trade remains limited, mostly consisting of repeat orders. Packers and processors are working off majority contracted supplies, with the odd top-up load on the side.

Production by sector and region release

Production by region is a mixed bag this season, when compared to last year.  At 205.2Kt, the North East and North West has had the biggest drop in production compared to last year, down 36.1kt. The South East, South West and Wales and West Midlands also saw a reduction in production compared to last year.
