Pig Health Scheme abattoir assessments will begin in eleven different abattoirs this month.
Specially trained veterinary assessors will report on twelve different conditions in the lungs, heart, liver, tail and skin at the point of slaughter.
With the support of your vet, the report can help explain any changes in your herd health and help pick up any early disease problems that might be affecting your profit.
Reports are sent out within two days, but only to producers who are signed up to the scheme. So if your pigs go to any of the eleven abattoirs, now's the time to sign up, via your existing Pig Hub account used for pig movements.
If you were a member of the previous British Pig Health Scheme (BPHS), you have been automatically enrolled to the relaunched Pig Health Scheme.
