Our comprehensive research and development programme is designed to match tree fruit growers’ highest priorities.
At AHDB, we work with CRD and the agrochemical industry to deliver new EAMUs and emergency authorisations, coinciding with crucial losses of crop protection products. Our SCEPTREplus programme funds screening trials to identify new and alternative products for improved control of insect pests, diseases and weeds and the ongoing IPM research programmes focuses on developing novel control methods for key pests and diseases. We also fund long-term rootstock breeding, developing the next generation of rootstocks while post-harvest research has been investigating ways to improve dry matter content of apples to increase the long-term storage potential.
Through our strategic centre, Plum Demonstration Centre at NIAB EMR, we are able to showcase IPM trials and demonstrate best practice in plum production.
