After graduating from Harper Adams, Kate spent 18 months working in New Zealand on dairy, sheep and deer farms. After a few years in local authority roles, she ran the local Food Links project before starting up the Exmoor Hill Farm Project. During this time, Kate took part in the Family Business Growth Programme looking at succession planning and completed a Farm Business Administration course at Bridgewater College.
Kate joined AHDB in February 2016 covering Devon and Cornwall in what was the block calving team. In the same year she piloted the first Princes Farm Resilience Programme group in Cornwall and also ran a series of farm office workshops. Kate previously ran four Women in Dairy Groups and more recently set up an autumn block calving group as part of optimal dairy systems. She also runs an organic discussion group in North Devon.
Kate’s areas of interest include time management, grassland systems and people skills. She enjoys seeing businesses improve and prosper, farmers supporting farmers through discussion groups and helping to make a difference with the huge range of resources that AHDB has to offer. Her ambition is for farming to showcase itself to its best ability, attracting the very best people to come and work in the industry.
