Clare Bend

AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds Sector Board Member (Independent)

I graduated from Bath University in 1985, with a BSc Hons in Applied Biology with Crop Protection.  Having done three placements in crop related research (East Malling Research Station, Plant Breeding Institute, Long Ashton Research Station) I trained as an Agronomist at Harper Adams where I attained a post graduate diploma in Crop Protection.  I practiced Agronomy on the Cotswolds for about 8 years then moved into the Technical Division of Cleanacres, one of the heritage Agronomy businesses that now make up Agrii, a national provider of Agronomic advice and products.  I have managed the Research & Development and Technical support divisions within Agrii now for over 20 years working with our UK wide team of Agronomists, Triallists and Regional Technical Advisors.  We carry out 450 trials each year with a strong Integrated Pest Management ethos, aimed at providing customers with holistic farm advice.  Previously I have been on the HGCA Research & Knowledge Transfer committee and also on the BASIS Professional Matters committee.
