Weekly dairy market update (16-20 November)

Monday, 23 November 2020

By Patty Clayton

Good demand for cream on the continent, along with increased manufacturing activity in the build up to the holidays, kept cream markets firm in the week. Although milk production is good for the time of year, it is not overwhelming the markets.

Spot milk 28 - 29ppl

Milk delivieries off farm remain up year on year, although are manageable given slightly higher retail sales. There was a small reduction in pricing during the week due to reported issues at factories, although demand for skim concentrate on the continent remains, which has helped balance the markets.

Bulk cream £1,350 - £1,360 /tonne

Bulk cream prices firmed slightly from the previous week as demand on the continent remains strong. The build-up in demand for holiday manufacture is also helping to keep markets firm.
