Education
Educating tomorrow’s consumers is crucial for the long-term sustainability of the UK food and farming industry. Our levy-funded education work increases children's understanding of where their food comes from and builds their confidence in cooking and knowledge of nutrition.
Building children’s confidence in cooking and knowledge of nutrition
To help children become more confident in preparing meals and eating healthily, we work with the British Nutrition Foundation to deliver Food – a fact of life, which offers a wealth of resources for teachers to use in their lessons.
We organise teacher conferences and interactive events so they can enhance what they deliver in the classroom. And our ingredients into schools initiative allows teachers to offer practical cooking lessons when the cost is a barrier.
Increasing children's understanding of where their food comes from
Our school farm visits support programme helps farmers provide impactful on-farm experiences for school children.
We proudly sponsor LEAF Open Farm Sunday, which enables children to visit working farms; while our partnership with Countryside Classroom provides teachers with resources on food, farming, and the natural environment.
Educational resources
We have a huge selection of educational resources available to order/download, including stickers, activity sheets for farm visits and leaflets about our Food – a fact of life programme.
Who we work with
We actively work with and support many organisations across the agri-food sector, all of whom are dedicated to improving children’s understanding of the importance of food and farming.
