Average somatic cell count and bactoscan levels for GB are reported, based on an AHDB survey of dairies, covering approximately 2/3 of milk production.

Overview
- Bactoscan levels for September averaged 27,000/ml, the same as the previous month and 1,000/ml lower than the same month last year
- Average Bactoscan levels for the 2023 year stood at 28,000/ml, 1,000/ml higher than the 2022 average
- Somatic cell count (SCC) levels averaged 167,000/ml in Septemner the same as the previous month and 8,000/ml lower than the same month last year
- The average cell count stood at 160,000/ml for 2023, no change to the 2022 average
